Technical Film Production :

BAU, Sabour has developed a knowledge network and dissemination system for empowering farmers with greater access to the information and knowledge. The Electronic Media & Production Centre (EMPC) was established in 2011 at Sabour for production of audio, video and multimedia means of interacting with farming community. The video conferencing facility with connectivity to all 20 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) is a boon for timely problem solving of all the stakeholders.  A total of 30 agriculture related videos have been developed till March 31, 2017 and it is also uploaded by this unit on YouTube. Ten additional technical videos are in the pipeline. These videos are catching viewership across 182 countries (YouTube bausabour channel). The total number of subscribers to the YouTube channel has crossed the 15000 mark while the total viewership is above 25 lakhs. The most watched video is on quail production which has over 8.96 lakh viewership. Additionally, farmers are also obtaining these videos from the university. The EMPC is also supporting Doordarshan for agricultural knowledge dissemination.

 

Video Conferencing

All twenty KVKs of BAU, Sabour namely Katihar, Harnaut (Nalanda), Saharsa, Aurangabad, Araria, Arwal, Banka, Sabour (Bhagalpur), Gaya, Lakhisarai, Madhepura, Munger, Patna, Purnea, Rohtas, Sheikhpura, Supaul and Jehanabad are connected through headquarter. Farmers from all the 20 KVKs under jurisdiction of BAU, Sabour are taking training from head quarter Sabour. Videos are being used through video conferencing to enhanced effectiveness of training programmes.

The university is regularly reaching out with farmers located in different KVKs of the districts through video conferencing.

In the year 2016-17, a total of 2275 advisories has provided over phone and 256 on WhatsApp.

 

Kisan Gyan Rath

It is an important mobile system for imparting knowledge to the farmers at their doorsteps. It is equipped with video display unit for demonstrating agricultural practices. This Rath moves from village-to-village as per the schedule across the 25 districts of Bihar. It is paying a pivotal role in motivating the farmers to adopt the latest technologies. Kisan Gyan Rath was launched by Bihar Agricultural University is Kisan Gyan Rath was launched by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar on October 11, 2014. It is an important medium to provide expert guidance to the farmers on their doorsteps. The Kisan Gyan Rath (Bus) is a fully equipped having facilities for soil analysis, interpretation and issuing of soil health cards to the farmers. The benefit from the scheme is that farmers need not to visit the soil testing laboratories instead the soil testing laboratories reach farmers on their doorsteps. The second Kisan Gyan Rath was launched by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Bihar in 2017.

Objectives

  • To disseminate scientific know-how information through technical videos at farmers doorsteps.
  • To facilitate awareness development about the soil health among the farming community.
  • To distribute soil health cards among the farming community
  • To emphasize judicious utilization of chemical fertilizers and promote integrated nutrient management.
  • To promote soil test based fertilizer recommendation for sustained soil health.
  • To promote capacity building in farming community.

 

Community Radio Station

The community radio is an important tool to empower rural community through quality information. The community radio station established on May 17, 2011 at KVK, Barh, Patna on 91.2 F.M. radio band with the specific objectives to broadcasts content that is relevant to a local, specific audience but is often overlooked by commercial or mass- media broadcasters. The community radio station is very much operated, owned, and influenced by the communities they serve. Community radio is a model of radio broadcasting in addition to commercial and public broadcasting offered by the extension departments and the directorate. Community Radio Station has great potentials for education & social development. It is most economical tool to reach the masses and have a quick communication. It is also planned in future to work in conjunction with phone/ mobile and internet system.

Coverage of CRS, Barh : It covers 20 KM radius of 8 blocks of Patna District of Bihar. CRS covers total 503 villages of Patna District.
