Agro advisory bulletin for 17 districts of zone III A, III B of Bihar dated 18-22 June 2016

OBJECTIVE:

  • Weather forecast: Twice in a week- Tuesday and Friday

Parameters forecasted are rainfall, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, cloud cover, relative humidity (morning), relative humidity (evening), wind velocity and wind direction and forecast is valid for five days.

  • Advisory services for farmers:
  • Management of farming systems according to the weather conditions is suggested.
  • Application of fertilizer, irrigation, cultural practices, spraying of pesticides, fungicides, harvesting of crops and storage or other farm related works are advised according to the weather forecasted. Fisheries, animal husbandry, poultry, etc. are also advised according to the weather condition

  Advisory services communicated to the farmers:

  • Every day, daily weather data and weather forecasting is given to the newspapers like Dainik jagran, Prabhat khabar, Hindustan, Nayi baat, Rashtiya Sahara etc. on phone call for general public in surrounding area.
  • Agro advisory bulletin is sent to all KVK’s, NGO’s, ATMA, Anna data programme for farmers through ETV, office of District agricultural officer, all news papers published in the area, All India radio, though e mail.
  • It is also sent to the kisan helpline, technical cell, VC cell and Director Extension in BAU, Sabour.
  • It is uploaded to the web site www.bausabour.ac.in of BAU, Sabour and Indian meteorological department www.imdagrimet.gov.in.

  • Farmers are advised to procure good quality seeds of wheat and start sowing in the prepared fields having optimum moisture. Seed rate: - 100 kg seed per hectare. Recommended cultivars: H.D. 2733, H.D. 2967, H.U.W. 468, K 9107. Before sowing seeds should be treated with Bavistin or Thiram @ 2-2.5 g per kilogram of seed. Recommended dose of fertilizer for N: P: K is 120, 60 and 40 kg / hectare.
  • Keeping in view of weather, farmers are advised for sowing of gram as earliest. Seed rate: - 75-80 kg/ha for small and medium sized varieties and 100 kg/ ha for big sized/kabuli varieties. R x R spacing to be maintained 30 cm and plant to plant 10 cm. Varieties:- Kabuli type – Subhra, BG 1053, HK 94; local type – GCP 105, Pusa 256, Pusa 246, P.B.G. 1, Pusa 372. Before sowing, seed should be treated with Rhizobiumculture and phosphorus solubilising bacteria.
  • Sowing of lentil can be done in this weather conditions. Cultivar: - PL 406, Arun, PL 639, Pusa Masur -5, Jawahar masur-3, Narender masur-1. Seed treatment with Rhizobium and Phosphorus solubilising bacteria is advised.
  • Keeping in view of temperature trend sowing of oat and barseem for fodder purpose can be done. Cultivars for oat: - J.H.O-822, O.L.-9, Pusa oat-5 and for barseem – Vardan, Buland Barseem-1, Masakavi, J.B-3. Seed rate: - oat 80-100 kilograms per hectare and barseem -25-30 kilogram per hectare.
  • Before storing of paddy, it should be dried to bring down moisture level below 16 %. Godowns should be thoroughly cleaned to destroy any insect pests hiding in the creeks and crevices and dried before storing grains.
